The Renaissance Process overview

Casual Chat

First we need to chat over coffee or some food. So this will be your view, sorry. But this will be a chance for Jeremy to hear your vision and get a sense for where you are in your process. It’s also a great opportunity to see if we vibe as a good fit for one another. Jeremy will create a meeting recap regardless of the outcome that will bring some clarity.

Intense Mapping

Generalities are place holders for unimportant things. We need to get specific and it’s a little intense. We need to get through a lot of information quickly and we need to be able to trust it. So this stage can teeter between journalism and an interrogation. We need to identify what we think and what we know. Everything vital has a name and everything with a name has a place. Some of this time will be spent with and some with your team.

Strategy and Execution

Now that we know where we are and where we’re going. We’ll begin the fun of assembling it all into a plan. We can begin to use our imagination and then bring everyone and everything we need together to bring the plan home. Waste reduction, process improvement, education, communication, growth and centralizing what’s central are all on the table. Because of the mapping, this stage is now more efficient. And I don’t have to tell you about the lean and financial benefits of faster turns.

In the land of Strategic Curiosity and “Could If”

The right questions turn to understanding. Understanding turns to Clarity. Clarity helps us to develop good plans and better processes. Better plans and processes allow us to reach our goals…

…and repeat….

You are here….

A few questions to gather a sense of where you are most confident and where you may need some clarity.

What is it?

Do you know what you are offering? Can you describe it clearly? Is the benefit clear to anyone who hears about it? Is your message concise, descriptive and repeatable? When someone new talks about you, do they describe you the same way you do?

Why does it matter?

Do you understand who benefits by your work? Do they understand that they are benefiting? What is the scope of the impact? Is it global, local, individual? What pain are you resolving? Who needs to care? Who doesn’t need to care? Is the benefit on many levels or only one?

Where are we going?

Are your goals specific? Is your destination a collection of checks on a list, or is it more that that? How will we know that we’ve arrived at the destination? Where are we committed not to go? Does your team know where we are going? Could they accurately relay the destination to others?

Why aren't we there?

What are the limitations that have been holding us back? Do we have damage? Is our limitation financial, available time. morale, vision, communication, something else, or a combination? Is the issue really the issue? Now that we know where we’re going, do we have what we need to get there? Are we unsure of the issue? Are we missing a resource? Do we know where to find the resource?

What’s the plan?

Now that we have a strong understanding of our goals and limitations, what is the straightest path to success? What strategies best propel us forward with our limitations in mind? How do we turn our vision into next steps. Can our team locate the plan? Can our team understand the plan? Does our team have what they need to execute?

How do we execute?

What paperwork is required to execute? Do we need contracts? What are the deadlines? What is the standard of excellence for this project? What is the minimum viable product? When will we role out the first iteration? Who will be involved in each stage? What is success for every member on every project? Who is the support person for each group?
